Series 1 of the James Luna Archive, Working Files, consists of 24 manuscript cases (12 cu. ft) of correspondence, notes, publications, photographs, and other paper based materials documenting the career of artist James Luna (1979-2010). The series is arranged according to the donor's original order--it is arranged chronologically according to project and location. Many types of activities are documented in the series including exhibitions, lectures, workshops, grants, fellowships, installations, and performances.

Abstract

"California Mission Daze" was an interdisciplinary project organized by James Luna that sought to publicize and generate debate over the proposed canonization of Junipero Serra. Exhibit was held at the Installation Gallery, San Diego. The file consists of correspondence, planning documents, photographs, notes, and other exhibit related materials.
