Scope and Content Note
This collection contains the articles Keith Humphries used in his research while writing and painting and the articles which contain some written notation. Seventy-four pictures contains photographs from the 1930's and 1940's southwestern homestead and the July 4th parade and rodeo in Silver City in 1939 and 1940. There are also photographs of his paintings.

Biographical Sketch
A former civil engineer at White Sand Missile Ranges, Keith Humphries was a New Mexican author, historian and painter. Originally from Oklahoma, Humphries found his passion for history when his family lived in Toyah, Texas next to the Van Horn Wells stage station. Travelers to the area and memories of the family ranch hand fueled his desire to record history, but he wasn't able to pursue his passion until retirement. He wrote a book titled Apache land from those who lived it and painted wild west scenes to recount some of the older stories.
