Born August 17, 1867; came to New Mexico from Texas in 1884 to Eddy, now Carlsbad; elected sheriff of Eddy County in 1897; Par Garrett and Billy the Kid; killing of Les Dow by Dave Kemp; Dee Harkey and his book Mean as Hell, says Harkey was a liar.
