Seven events with Ralph Nader, 1999-2000

 File — Box: 9, Videotape: 19

Scope and Contents

This video tape contains a compilation of speeches and lectures Ralph Nader presented at different colleges and universities in California in which he addresses issues of concern to students and voters in general, mainly focusing on the importance of being involved in politics; the connection between civic participation and justice, reform, and defeating discrimination. He talks a great deal about learning what he calls citizen skills, about one's rights and responsibilities as a citizen. Also talks about corporate influence in politics and the weakening of democracy because of the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few. In these lectures he also discusses environmental and health issues by emphasizing the projects he has been involved with such as the Oaks Project, his consumer advocacy for seatbelt safety, strong drug and food regulations, as well as his part in the struggle to regulate the use of lead paint. This is a very informative compilation of videos that highlight Ralph Nader's platform and concerns.
