Erosion protection, 1935-1940
Scope and Content
Loose prints in the collection deal with soil conservation and education in the Southwest from 1935 to 1940. Most depict classroom and outdooor projects undertaken by schoolchildren and communties. Farmers from the Estancia Valley are shown gathered around a table reading a document (folder 13). An album contains photos of the Tijeras Canyon - Moriarty area, including predominately Hispanic-American villages, summer residential and resort cabins, and farms. Includes a photograph of Selva's Dance Hall. Photographs accompanied a report prepared for the Rural Electrification Administration, Section of Human Surveys, Soil Conservation Service, Region 8. A hand-drawn map of the area is on the cover.
