Scope and Contents

This diary includes the following inserts:

  1. Broadside for a Zarzuela [genre with spoken and sung scenes, incorporating operatic and popular songs, as well as dance]. Srita, piano and JDC, prompter.
  2. JDC travels to Mexico City - JDC is impressed by the lights and buildings.
  3. Document noting JDC as a permanent commissioner on the Tlaxcala city council.
  4. Broadside letter to the Army asking Porfirio Diaz to accept the revolution and to resign. Written by Manuel Díaz Calderón (brother).
  5. JDC notes the date that Madero plans to march into Mexico City.
  6. Newspaper clipping noting Porfirio Diaz leaving Mexico.
  7. Broadside protesting a slander against JDC. Signed in print by JDC.
  8. Transcription of a long poem written by JDC for the inauguration of part of an irrigation aqueduct in Tlaxcala.
